Professionally Grown Seed Produces Better Yields

Universities and private companies have documented a yield advantage for professionally grown and conditioned seed over bin-run seed. Add documented yield loss to the labor, hauling, storage, and cleaning expenses associated with planting bin-run seed, and planting bin-run soybeans or wheat may cost more than buying new seed that has been professionally grown and processed.

Yield ChartAt miles seed, we take great pride in producing high-yielding, quality Southern Cross soybeans and Exsegen wheat varieties. Our field and production operations are monitored by our production manager, Phil Turner, and our Opti-Crop staff. Detailed field inspections check stand and appearance as well as identify any potential pest or disease problems that may require the application of crop protection products. When deciding what to plant, consider that bin-run seed quality may be unreliable. Questionable factors affecting bin-run seed include purity of the variety, seed quality, germination rates, seed vigor, and disease susceptibility. These unknown aspects can negatively affect initial control mechanisms that greatly reduce and practically eliminate the risk of poor quality seed. When using professionally grown and conditioned seed, you can be confident in the quality of the product.

Considering that only 15% of total production cost comes from the seed, planting bin-run seed is not worth the risk of reducing plant stands or compromising yields. Instead of improving your operations profitability, you can actually create a loss of revenue with bin-run seed.

In addition, saving patent-protected seed such as Roundup Ready technology violates U.S. Patent Laws, prosecutable before a judge in Federal Court. Do not save patent-protected seed – It’s not worth the RISK!

We encourage you to purchase and plant new seed – it’s worth the INVESTMENT!
